how to build a better human

What if I told you about a car that was made out of the poorest-quality materials you could find? The metals were weak, the rubber was brittle, the glass and plastic were thin and fragile.

You wouldn’t expect it to run very well or to last very long, right? Because the raw materials make up the car parts and if the parts aren’t working properly then the car as a whole isn’t going to work properly or have any longevity.

This is true for our bodies as well.

Our body is made up of systems that are made up of organs that are made up of cells.

The cells are the foundation. If our cells aren’t healthy or functioning properly, then they can’t build healthy organs, systems or humans.

But what builds our cells?

Cells are built solely by the materials that we provide them in the way of food. Every part of every cell in your body is made up of the materials that you have provided.

Really think about that. Every cell and organ in your body is built out of the food that you eat.

If you provide whole-food, nutrient dense fuel, then the cells will have what they need to create healthy cell parts; membranes to allow substances in or out and to communicate with other cells, mitochondria to provide energy, a nucleus to store genetic information, and more. These healthy cells will make up healthy organs that function together properly to create a healthy, thriving human.

If you provide nutrient-poor, highly processed foods, the cells don’t get the building blocks they need to be strong and healthy. And, you guessed it, those poorly functioning cells make up poorly functioning organs that, ultimately make up poorly functioning and lousy feeling humans.

Cell dysfunction contributes to cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, diabetes, insulin resistance, heart disease, various neurodegenerative disorders, autoimmune diseases and more.

We wouldn’t put ketchup in our car’s gas tank and expect it to run well. But for some reason, we think we can fuel our own bodies with highly processed, chemical-laden foods and expect them to perform well and last a long time. That just doesn’t make sense.

We can always buy a new car but we only have one body. The good news is that cells in our body are constantly re-building and regenerating. They all do it at a different pace (skin cells very quickly, nerve cells very slowly) but for the most part, almost every cell in your body will be replaced in 7 years. This means we have the opportunity to rebuild ourselves, one cell at a time and do it in a way that creates healthy, thriving organs and humans!

I’d love to help you on this journey of rebuilding. Reach out to me and let’s chat.
